I was born in London and raised in Nigeria & Malawi, where my father was working with snakes and tropical diseases. I was educated at Shrewsbury School, after which I moved to Bristol to study painting (BA hons Fine Art). Beginning my career making experimental Super8 films, I then moved into the film industry fourteen years ago, serving a six year apprenticeship as a camera assistant & focus puller. I worked in 16/35mm drama, promos and over 50 commercials, the discipline of which serves me well in the digital era. |
| My passions are drama, documentary and the spaces between the two. I fell into documentary eight years ago on a BBC shoot across West Africa, and found a natural aptitude & love for it. I am inspired by the privileged access I have had to a great diversity of people, places and experiences, and by the constantly changing demands and politics of my working environment. Coming from a painter's background however, the quality of image is extremely important to me. I try to bring a discerning eye to the chaos of shooting documentary, and immediacy and intuition to my work in drama. |
